The Government has announced a HomeBuilder grant as part of the federal economic stimulus package grant for the construction of a new home or for completing a substantial renovation of an existing home.
Applicants can apply for the grant to build a new home as a principal place of residence, where the property value (house and land) does not exceed $750,000, or for renovations where the renovation contract is between $150,000 and $750,000, and where the value of your existing property (house and land) does not exceed $1.5 million.
Other criteria apply and full details are expected to be released for Queensland residents in August 2020. HomeBuilder will be available for building contracts signed between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020, where construction or renovation commences within three months of the contract date.
The HomeBuilder grant may also be combined with the First Home Owners Grant of $15,000 for eligible applicants, giving a total potential grant availability of $40,000.
